Coldwater fish, such as Goldfish, prefer a colder climate than tropical fish.

What do I do for Tropical / Freshwater Fish / Aquariums?
Keep aquarium water at a temperature that is between 64 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit for Goldfish, 76-80 degress Fahrenheit for tropical fish; aquarium thermometers are available at any pet store and will help you keep track of the temperature as it will change due to the environment/climate; heating elements can be used to keep the temperature at the appropriate level.
